PRIDE CELEBRATIONS
Parades, Marches, Festivals and Demonstrations

Gay pride parades and similar festivals and events are intended as celebrations of the LGBT culture and lifestyle and demonstrations for human rights.
Most pride events occur annually and many take place around June to commemorate the Stonewall riots, a pivotal moment in the modern LGBT rights movement.

Parades and marches serve to render a community visible. Marches typically have the goal of effecting political or social change, whereas parades are celebratory. Some contingents in a parade may bear messages of political protest, and marches may have festive elements or be part of a larger program that includes concerts or picnics and similar events.
